The Department responded to 16 calls for service in December including a grass fire on Ranch Road 2233 that was extinguished quickly.

The abundant grass growth from last year's wet conditions has now dried out, leaving large amounts of highly flammable material across our area.

According to the Texas A&M Forest Service, the long-term wildfire risk forecast indicates drier and warmer-than-normal conditions persisting into next week and beyond. This pattern is expected to sustain elevated wildfire risk in our area for weeks to come.

Please remain vigilant and report smoke immediately to 9-1-1.  Avoid outdoor burning, properly dispose of cigarettes, secure trailer chains so they don’t drag and spark, and don’t park vehicles on dry, tall grass as your catalytic converter can start a fire. Your caution helps protect our community.

Two motor vehicle collisions, both on Ranch Road 2233, one of which required transport by Hamilton EMS. Nine medical calls other than collisions, including one that required air ambulance transport due to the criticality of getting the patient to a skilled medical facility from the new helipad at Sandy Creek Park.
