SKYWARN Severe Weather & FloodAware Training

Burnet TX – March 19th 6pm to 8pm


Burnet County Emergency Management will be hosting Basic SKYWARN and FloodAware Training at the AgriLife Auditorium, 607 N. Vandeveer, Burnet, TX 78666 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on March 19th, 2026.  


Everyone is invited to attend including residents, Fire & EMS, Law Enforcement personnel.


Severe Weather and Flooding Training (Basic Skywarn): 

·     Learn about severe weather information specific to South Central Texas,

·     Procedures for reporting severe weather to local NWS forecasters, and

·     How to improve preparedness. 


NEW in 2026: The course will include an increased focus on weather hazards and preparedness across the region, with an emphasis on Flash Flooding.


FloodAware Training: This session focuses solely on the region's flood and flash flood issues, including the meteorology behind the record flooding the area experiences.


The training includes flood information from the National Weather Service, the local Emergency Management office, River Authority, or other water organizations. These are targeted at the areas more flood-prone locations.


This year’s course is not providing the Advanced SKYWARN Curriculum.

ICS Training

Marble Falls Fire Rescue will be hosting G-300: Intermediate ICS for Expanding Incidents & G-400: Advanced ICS for Complex Incidents classes February 16-20, 2026


The course is free of charge. The course is recommended for personnel with supervisory duties within their agency and/or hold a position in your jurisdictions Emergency Operations Center (EOC), it is highly recommended that you attend the above classes. 

 

These courses equip individuals with the skills and knowledge to effectively manage emergency incidents or special events of varying complexity, from single-agency responses to large-scale, multi-agency events. By providing a standardized framework, ICS promotes common terminology, effective communication and coordination among different agencies and personnel during emergencies. 

 

The following online classes are pre-requisites before you may register for G-300 and G-400:

 

IS-100.C           Introduction to the Incident Command System

IS-200.C           Basic Incident Command System for Initial Response

IS-700.B           An Introduction to the National Incident Management System

IS-800.D           National Response Framework, An Introduction

If you don’t already have a FEMA SID, you will need to register for one before you start any of your classes. This can be done at https://cdp.dhs.gov/femasid

 

You will need to register for an account with TDEM training at https://tdem.geniussis.com/PublicWelcome.aspx?AffiliateID=QQ0AU6 after you have your FEMA SID.

 

Once your account is active, you will need to download your IS-100.C, IS-200.C, IS-700.B and IS-800.D certificates under the “Request Credit” tab on the left side of the page so that you will have the prerequisites needed to register for the G-300: Intermediate ICS for Expanding Incidents & G-400: Advanced ICS for Complex Incidents classes.
